About StatForge

StatForge is a monster stat block generator and PNG exporter for Dungeon Masters running D&D 5e and 5.5e (2024) games. Build a creature from scratch, start from the SRD, or bring in one generated by an AI — then export a clean, print-ready stat block image for your table, your handouts, or your virtual tabletop.

StatForge supports both the 2014 and 2024 Monster Manual formats, including traits, actions, bonus actions, reactions, legendary actions, lair actions, and regional effects. It is available in English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian.

Free features

  • Full stat block editor for both editions
  • Live preview that matches the exported image
  • Save up to 10 stat blocks
  • 3 PNG exports per day
  • Single-column and two-column layouts

StatForge Pro — $4.99, one time

  • Unlimited bestiary — save as many monsters as you want
  • Unlimited PNG exports
  • iCloud sync across your devices
  • PDF export
  • SRD Library — import from hundreds of official SRD monsters
  • AI Import — bring in stat blocks generated by any AI

Pro is a single one-time purchase. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.

Support

I bought Pro but it isn't showing up

Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy it. Pro is tied permanently to that Apple ID, so it will come back on any device you sign in to.

My stat blocks aren't syncing between devices

iCloud sync requires StatForge Pro, and both devices need to be signed in to the same Apple ID with iCloud turned on. Check Settings → your name → iCloud on each device and confirm StatForge is enabled. The first sync after installing on a new device can take a few minutes.

My AI-generated JSON won't import

Use the Copy AI Prompt button rather than writing your own prompt — it includes the exact format StatForge expects. Paste the AI's full response into the app; it will find the JSON even if there's text around it. If it still fails, ask the AI to return only raw JSON with no explanation and no code blocks.

A monster disappeared after I imported it

Stat blocks brought in from the SRD Library are held as drafts until you change something. If you import one and navigate away without editing it, it isn't saved — this keeps your library free of clutter. Edit any field, or tap Save in the editor, to keep it.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We aren't able to issue refunds ourselves.

Something else, or a bug to report

Email sales@crookedtavern.com. Including your device model and iOS version helps a lot.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: REPLACE DATE

The short version: StatForge doesn't collect your personal information, doesn't track you, doesn't show ads, and doesn't sell data to anyone. Your monsters are yours.

What we don't collect

StatForge has no user accounts. There's no sign-up, no login, and no password. We don't collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or any other personally identifying information. We couldn't identify you if we tried.

We don't collect your location, and we don't access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, health data, or browsing history.

Your stat blocks

Everything you create in StatForge is stored locally on your device.

If you have StatForge Pro and are signed in to iCloud, your stat blocks sync across your own Apple devices through Apple's iCloud. That data lives in your private iCloud database, tied to your Apple ID. We have no access to it, cannot read it, and it is never sent to any server operated by us or by any third party.

Your stat blocks are private to you. StatForge has no community feed, no public gallery, and no user-to-user sharing. Content leaves your device only when you personally export it and choose where it goes through your device's share sheet.

Purchases

Payments are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID credentials.

To manage purchases across your devices, StatForge uses RevenueCat, a third-party purchase management service. RevenueCat receives anonymous purchase and entitlement events — whether a purchase happened, whether it's still valid, and a randomly generated identifier created by the app. That identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID.

We use this only to unlock the features you paid for and to understand overall purchase volume. It is not used for advertising, is not shared with data brokers, and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.

AI Import

The AI Import feature generates a text prompt that you copy and paste into an AI service of your choosing. StatForge does not connect to any AI service — we make no API calls, send them nothing, and have no relationship with them. Anything you paste into a third-party AI is governed by that service's own privacy policy.

Tracking and advertising

StatForge does not track you. We don't use advertising identifiers, don't serve ads, and don't take part in any cross-app or cross-site tracking. The app never asks for App Tracking Transparency permission because it has no reason to.

Children

StatForge is a creative tool for tabletop roleplaying enthusiasts and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Data retention and deletion

Because we don't collect your personal data, there's nothing for us to retain or delete. Your stat blocks live on your device — deleting the app removes them. If you use iCloud sync, you can manage or delete that data in your device's iCloud settings. Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat are anonymous and retained under those companies' own policies.

Third-party services

StatForge uses only these:

  • Apple — App Store purchases and iCloud sync. Privacy policy
  • RevenueCat — purchase validation and entitlement management. Privacy policy

No other third-party SDKs, analytics tools, or advertising networks are included in the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we'll update the date above and note it in the app's release notes.
